Publications

Recent research has focused on themes of contemporary Baltic security and majority/minority relationships in Lithuania. The outcome has been a number of publications and conference papers in these areas. Two articles were published in 1997: 'The Baltic States, the Enlargement of NATO and Russia' in the Journal of Baltic Studies, Winter 1997, and 'NATO-Russia Relations after the Cold War' in Le Monde Atlantique, December 1997. In 1999 an article entitled 'NATO's Enlargement: the Implications for the Security of Poland and the Baltic States' will be published in the Occasional Papers of the University of Economics, Poznan, Poland.

Conference papers on the themes of security and minorities were delivered at the Association for the Advancement of Baltic Studies' conference at Indiana University, Bloomington, June 1998, to the Latvian Information Officers' conference in April 1998, and to the Institute of German Studies, University of Wroclaw, Poland, March 1998. A paper on NATO-Russia relations after the Cold War was given at the Britain -Russia Centre in London, June 1997.

Currently a book on Lithuanian history in the twentieth centuary, incorporating the politics and economics of the transition from communism, is in the course of completion and will be published by Harwood Academic Press. Several articles on Baltic history will also be published in 2000 in Bernard A Cook (ed) Europe Since 1945, Garland Press, New York.
