Scara Configuration

The term Scara stands for Selective Compliance Assembly Robot Arm. It is a combination of the cylindrical and revolute configurations operating in the horizontal plane.

The SCARA configuration was developed primarily for assembly tasks which require movement in the horizontal plane coupled with simple vertical movement for picking, placing and insertion operations.
